Why intelligent people prefer to be alone.

While many people value relationships, friendships, and spending time with people they really like, those with higher IQs are happier when they have less social interaction.

There are various explanations for this and I will mention a few that are scientifically proven.
1) They value productivity. People generally work well in groups because they can use their collective strengths to compensate for their individual weaknesses. For smart people, however, this can be frustrating, as everyone else rushes to pick out the smallest details while they stand right in front of the group, looking at the big picture. Smart people often choose to work alone, not because they dislike companionship, but because they believe they will be able to get things done more efficiently.
2) They often have a different perspective. Since intelligence and curiosity go hand in hand, smart people spend a lot of time pondering and observing. This allows them to gain deeper insight and different perspectives from those around them. Because of their unique insight and ability to recognize subtle patterns they often uncover answers that others may easily miss and discover solutions that are not obvious to most people. This explains why those who think differently tend to be the most brilliant inventors and creative geniuses.
3) They are comfortable being different. Some will call them lonely and strange or unusual, but these people are completely comfortable with themselves and their own way of thinking. Their distinct personalities and thought patterns serve them well in pursuit of their goals. Intelligent people are in their element when they are alone and in silence, as they have no one to answer to
4) Loneliness helps them appreciate others more. The fact that highly intelligent people prefer solitude does not mean that they are all hermits. In fact the vast majority of them really care about others and are among the most generous humanitarians. In fact spending time alone is what allows them to develop a greater appreciation for others. Since they don't regularly socialize with large groups, they have more quality time to spend with the few close people in their circle. This allows them to connect with others on a deeper level and understand them better.
5) They don't seek social validation. Validation is a basic human desire that exists regardless of one's level of intelligence. It is just as important as acceptance. The difference is that most intelligent people don't look for it in everyone they meet. Their small circle of friends provides them with all the validation they need. Intelligent people are usually self-confident enough to ignore negative opinions. They are not desperate for approval and don't really care if others like them or not.
6) They spend a lot of time reading. Reading is one of the best ways to increase intelligence. It builds vocabulary, verbal skills and general knowledge. Smart people tend to be avid readers who educate themselves, reading anything they can get their hands on. They love to learn about people, cultures, animals, history and the world in general. And since reading requires peace and quiet, it's not something they can do when they're around other people. So we often look for a lonely place to read.
7) They are not afraid of missing out. Fear of missing out refers to the unsettling feeling of anxiety that an exciting or interesting event may currently be happening somewhere else. Of course this can affect anyone. However, smart people try to find meaning in what they are doing in the moment. This allows them to feel more content and not care about what is happening somewhere else. They just choose to enjoy the now, instead of worrying about missing out on something else.
8)They often have different schedules. Intelligent people are likely to have different sleep cycles than people with a lower IQ. Research shows a strong correlation between intelligence and sleep time. Basically the later you stay up, the higher your get in thinking. This means that smart people tend to be night owls who prefer to work at night and sleep during the day. They usually peak later at night, which gives them a burst of energy to engage in things, like creative endeavors, invention, and imagination as a result. Their schedule doesn't always match the schedule of others, leaving them less time for social contacts.
9) They need more quiet time to make decisions. Smart people understand that many decisions require careful thought and prefer some space to process their thoughts. Therefore, they often ask for extra time to think about the situation before responding. They tend to gather as much information as possible and take their time to look at things from all angles before coming to a conclusion.
