I'm fine. I was looking for clerical jobs before the lockdown so I was social distancing involuntarily before the mandate. I don't socialize so it's been over a decade since I've picked up a respiratory infection. I hope that things are going well for you.
Good to hear. Stay safe. <3
I've had weak lungs since a kid and picked up a lot of infections also I live in Delhi, India so the air is the worst here. But I am all good and healthy. Did you get the job?
Wikia staff members are now currently testing a new article layout. The right rail will always be on the page no matter where you are, the Main Page, Article, Blog Post, etc. I was planning on updating ours when it was released to the public, but I wish to have your feedback.
Here is a link to a prototype article page with the new layout:
No... the layout and stuff looks cool but not very user friendly. It does not look like an improvement but more like a "showy" change made by wikia.
Plus another thing that I would like to impress upon everyone on this wiki is that our wikia is not a fan-based wiki... It is based on science. We need to keep things as simple and user-friendly as possible.
I know. I just wanted to see how our articles would look like in this layout. When it becomes publically available I will enable the option. I will then look at the changes and see how many people like it. The majority of the vote decides whether it stays or not.
Now the title of this post might seem a bit misleading so I suggest that you read this whole post first and then react.
I am thinking of closing my Amazing Science Wiki. I had created some useful articles there that I think might be useful for this wiki. I had like you to open these pages given in the list below that I feel hold the potential to become useful in future. I want your advice before I proceed im shifting them here.
I wanted to know if it would be possible to change the protection settings of the Main page? Because I wanted to make changes to it. I feel that the main page remains unchanged and needs constant editing to be revised. That crossword puzzle on elements needs to be changed. I want to change it.
Please can you change the protection settings' option to : "Protect from new and unregistered users"
Lookin frwrd for a quick reply.
Thank you. Drakenkaul 18:03, January 18, 2015 (UTC)
I think the idea of a star map is cool. With all the new data that is being collected, and the James Webb scope launching in late '18 as well as new ground-based instruments coming online soon, it might be a neat idea to present the information in a timeline. Maybe start with the most detailed information astronomers had regarding star maps back when Hubble first began taking photographs and show the progression towards the present day as details get filled in and resolution increases. You could even set up placeholders for information that is coming in the near future.
Hello. I was wondering if you could add "System Messages" to the wiki. If someone joins (or contributes) to this wiki, an automated message by you (or me) will be sent to that person saying something like:
"Hello! Welcome to Open Science Wiki! Message me if you need anything. Please read the Open Science rules(this will have a link to the rules page if we have one). Please follow the guidelines(Link to the guideline page if we have one) and be respectful of others work.
(This particular message is automated"
It is just an idea. I think it would be cool to have one of those and if we do have one of those, I think it shows appreciation to the person (even though it is automated)
Take as long as you want to think about this. I honestly dont know how to do it but here are some links that may help you:
It does that automatically. It doesn't say be respectful (that should go without saying) but the system automatically leaves a greeting to new users and signs it with the name of the most recent admin.
Hello! I just wanted to know what it takes to be an admin and how to get there. I really want to be an admin on this wiki (I can even set Welcome Messages to new users. This will send automated message to the new user) but I want to be prepared and ready.
Okay, since Drakenkaul resigned, and I don't spend much time on this wiki anymore, I think that it is probably a good idea the wiki has at least one admin with a regular interest in it. I must admit that I do have some concerns about your age and the emotional maturity you may demonstrate when dealing with any potential new contributors to the wiki. If having you as admin here becomes a problem, I will remove you. Nothing personal.
I am not good at handling them. But I always try to be nice. I hope you do well as an admin. And YEAH, I too was concerned about the way the welcome message worked. I wanted to add it but Didn't know how to do this. I hope you do it.
From my understanding the welcome message is on the wiki by default and is signed by the most recent admin (darkseid01 told me) so I would assume it would be signed by me. But what the message says, I don't know how to change it. All I know is that Wiki (original Wiki) wrote Wiki welcome messages that say the same thing for everyone by default. Other wiki's might've changed there welcome message (I don't know how) to say something different. I too, wan't to know what the Wiki Welcome Message says and who it would be signed by. If you look at the very first post on this thread, there should be some helpful links: http://science.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:4706
It is signed by the most recently active admin. Like when I was an admin new users used to get messages from me.
I actually have visited the welcome message page but I don't know what specific code I should put. I have even forgotten the way that page worked. I wil just look up and give you a nice sample message That I once created for you so that you can add that on that page,
